1. You can do everything right on a job and still get yourself injured or killed.

2. You are only as good as your crew and your last fire.

3. Taking an extra couple of seconds during size up can save you minutes or your life.

4. All skills are perishable.

5. We all must be lifelong students of the trade.

6. Train, Train, Train.

7. When you make a mistake, own it. Do not make excuses. It is how you recover on scene that matters.

8. Do your share around the firehouse. A mutt in the firehouse is usually a mutt on a job.

9. Check out your equipment frequently.

10. You have two hands. Bring two tools.
