Default 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radio problem              Go to Top

Hey guys, looking for some help here. I'm trying to figure out where to mount my scanner and another radio in my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Can any one give me a clue? I'm almost positive that I'm going to use remote heads for both radios.

Thanx in advance

You could always put it on the transmission hump. I may hang mine from a roof mounted console, by my CB.

Thanx aircrew, I did think about putting it there. My only problem is trying to operate it as I drive. I gotta write jeep and tell them they're cars are not buff friendly lol. My old Blazer had so much room for stuff.

Billy,

Remoting the radios is definitely the way to go. I'm pressed for space in my truck and I was able to remote 3 mobiles comfortably.

In my car (Nissan Maxima) I have the scanner in the center console. Stealth mode as I call it. I have no external speaker and it is very clear. I also went through the car's radio antenna and have very good reception.

Why not mount the BC350 scanner in the slot to the left of the steering wheel? You would probably just need to cut out a part of the slot's right rear inside to fit the entire scanner in there. If you use a remote head though, it wouldn't be a problem.

haha wow thats scary... i got it in the same exact spot as u lol... works out fine...

its the bc780xlt, i got an external speaker runnin to the side of it so its even louder/clearer... ill try to get a pic...

i ran the coax right under the side of the console where the plastic meets the carpet, and it kinda wedged itself in there, so its hidden, and then out thru a rubber grommet in the firewall, to the hood lip mount to the antennex scanner antenna...

just remember, the only time ull need to turn around is IF u need to lock onto a select channel... otherwise just let it scan

Hmmm... Thanx for the help guys. I think I'm going to end up putting a remote head on the center console where it meets the dash. Glad to see I'm not the only one buffing out a jeep.

Airecrew, I like the circular LEDs that you have in place of the fog lights. I have noticed that the new Hempstead Chief cars have those too.
