The fifth always has a good showing and is one of the better drills of the year. When the Teddy's Boys were making their run of 15 or so straight victories that team could have ran down to the wire with RVC and Truck had they ever run in the same drill.
unfortunately the chipmunks will not be running this year. we still have a "manpower" issue when it comes to drill team; not enough young legs in the department right now (that are willing to run at least). but we have taken in a few young guys recently and a few more are in the works; so hopefully next year the chipmunks will return to the track...
on a side note, two former chipmunks will be leading their new teams to the track friday night. both miller place and floral park drills teams are captained by two former chipmunks who were a part of the teams glory days. its good to see they are still involved in the sport...
It is up to the host department. We, RVC, decided to keep it as in years past. The host department has the choice to run first or go into the drawing with the rest of the teams.
