Default 99 Cent Stores              Go to Top

99 Cent Stores... "Everything $1.00 or less" Stores....

...They are popping up EVERYWHERE! Even in more "affluent" neighborhoods these are arriving... people just cant resist a bargain!

Whats that have to do with us? EVERYTHING!

As a "generalization", as these stores take in less $$, their employees also receive a smaller wage, and may also be living in said location when not working....

Also due to the amount of "inventory" these places carry, your fire load will be significantly GREATER than in a "regular" store.....

Another key point to ponder- what can you find in a 99 cent store? Everything from paper towels to chemicals to a telephone jack.... Many also have large refridgeration units for milk/drinks/etc.

LARGE potential for
A)Big Fire
B)Big storage in basement
C)"Crowded" Aisles
D)Heavy Refridgerators on 1st floor compromising structral integrity of flr
E)Potential Life Hazard- "worker living" conditions in "non-public" areas

BEWARE BROTHERS. These locations HAVE and will CONTINUE to be MAJOR PROBLEMS for the brothers

Also remember many of these stores keep the products in open metal wire bins on the sales floor. No real shelving, which means potential for very fast fire spread.

Floors get very slippery when all the containers start melting. Not easy working in there, let alone using a 2 1/2" line.

no shelves, items stocked in wire or plastic baskets stacked one on top of another, as we move in this all comes down and makes egress extremelt difficult. watch your heads as well as your hose lines.

How bout the sidewalk stuff?? Consider where they put that stuff after hours? More than likely right inside the front door since the aisles are narrow...no sense fighting to get the stuff to the back of the store when its just going back outside in the AM.
