Default Alert Tone Database              Go to Top

Does anyone know of a database that has the FD alert tone frequencies (in Hz) listed? I'm trying to get the tones for Locust Valley. I've only been able to find a few depts. Thanks.

The Nassau County "Countywide" tones---what are they for? Do they trip all pagers in Nassau?

Firecom set off those tones before a county wide message. They will not trip your radio unless that set of tones is programmed into it.

bad idea? Yeah maybe, but it doesn't take much trouble to figure out what they are if you are intent on causing trouble. Scanner, computer and the right software and you are set.

I don't see the big deal. Get any crappy scanner and throw it on 46.10 and you can hear tone-outs.

the issue is now that people know the tones they would be able to transmit them at will. Based ont he age of most department's pagers and in house systems it would be impossible to switch everything if there ever was a real problem, and tracking down a jammer like that is difficult and expensive.

Right, but all you'd have to do if you didn't have the information is record the department toning out, and then re-play the tones over the air. You don't even need to know the frequencies in Hz.

What if aliens from a far off world are reading this? They may be able to simultaneously tone out every fire department in the world at the same time that they are abducting the entire platypus population.
