Default APCO-25 Digital              Go to Top

I'm trying to set up my scanner to scan an APCO-25 digital radio system. I'm one of those young computer literate types and I have no idea how the hell this works. Any experts out there please PM me!

Can't help you unless I know the following -
What scanner (Model)
What system
What method are you using to program it (Keypad or Software)

Ok, from what I can find..

Its is an Analog and Digital Trunk System, so you need to set the bank for Motorola Type II not Motorola P25 System...

Here are the steps Keep in mind I don't have a radio in front of me, so there may be a missing step or some step out of order.. I have also never used the Uniden Program, so these steps would be generic

Create a new System and set it for Motorola Type-II system. The System Hold time will be 0 seconds, and set delay for 2. Also set your System Quick Key, so you can turn the "bank" on and off. and set it to ID SCAN

Assuming you want ALL of Montgomery FD under one system:
Now, add a new site. you will need to create a site for east and a site for west. Set each site for Control channel only (maybe this is a system setting, not a site setting).
For the WEST Site, add these freqs: 866.77500 867.13750 867.65000 868.45000
For the East Site, add these freqs: 866.88750 867.26250 867.37500 868.76250

Once that is done, you could really set the System to ID Search and see if you can find any talk groups and follow them.. I usually do this for any new system to see if my programming works.... Don't forget to go back to ID SCAN if you do this step.

You now need to enter the Talk Groups..
Create a new Group. I don't know how many groups you want to do, or how you want to set things up. this is completely up to you.

Use the Database at Radio Reference so you know what groups you want to use: Scanner Frequencies: Montgomery County Trunking System, Various, Pennsylvania

Program in the Talk Groups. you have the option of entering it as Data or Automatic talk groups. If you enter them as Analog, you will not hear anything...

That should get you rolling..
if you have any other questions, please let me know....

Just remember, if there are analog talk groups, the system can not be P25
