Maple Avenue at Broadway, gas leak. Bethpage , Hicksville and NC Fire Marshal HM on scene. Can smell the gas from at least 1/2 mile away. As of 0830, it appears they have it under control. Squad 4 appears to be the operating engine at scene.

At 0733 phone alarm for an active natural gas leak (from member) i/f/o 23 sycamore ave. Workers putting in new gas main hit old one. Car 1 had the command with Engine 9077,Squad 4,Rescue 3,938 and 9312 (HFD Haz-Mat). During ops a truck that was diverted around the scene struck a telephone pole on Broadway and Maple Ave. Sent standby company (Ladder 926 and 9203) to secure that scene. All unit were secure at 0903 hrs. Also 6218 and 663 stood by at BFD HQ.
