Its just simple in my department...a car fire is a car fire...if the first arriving unit pulls up and it is an overheat, that is transmitted over the radio...only thing you really need to say is whether there is some other problem associated with this fire such as an exposure problem...My chiefs were not too happy with me when I pulled up on a car fire and said I was on scene with a "fully involved" auto...didn't think it was a big deal at the time considering it was "fully involved" but I guess it is a big deal to let the incoming units know what they are coming into...I didn't know everything was such a secret...I thought it was all part of size-up...remember just because you have a report of a house fire doesn't mean that it is a house fire...I would think that the first unit arriving should let the incoming units know if it is a fire or not, whether or not to reduce response, or whether or not additional units are needed just like a car fire...JMO

sounds like your chiefs are J.O's if they break your balls over something like that.

However, the radar is also picking up a squadron of Russian ICBM’s, so I wouldn’t sweat the thunder showers.”
