Yes, you are trained to stop a bleeding wound, but the only stabilization you can do as a CFR is with your hands whether its holding the head in place to protect the C-Spine or holding a broken arm/leg with your hands in place until an EMT/Medic can put a temporary brace on it. You will not be trained to package a victim from a car accident into a KED or backboard, but you can check with the EMS agency you are associated with to see if they will allow you to do so.

Since you're taking a state-certified course, I believe you have up to a year to take the NYS practical and written assessments. Why not just finish the course and take the exams right after your 18th birthday?

the cert. exam is actually the final exam for the course, which is the 3rd week in june so whatever grade i get on that also goes on my report card and i turn 18 the october after that

if you have your own supplies and you witness and mva you can start patient care with in your protocols until EMTs or Medics arrive but remember you must stay until someone with a higher cert. is on scene
