Default College EMS MCI Drill              Go to Top

This might be of interest to any members who are in College EMS squads. Today my school hosted an annual MCI drill. The scenario is an intoxicated student is involved in an accident with another student, both cars full. The aided are triaged and transported, FD does extrications, and the driver is arrested. A narrator reads a dialogue describing what's happening, and giving some DUI statistics. Surrounding fire and EMS agencies participate, as well as campus PD.

The drill holds a dual purpose; to give us practice working MCIs and working with other agencies, and to try and educate the campus as to the consequences of drinking and driving. If anyone's interested there are a few pictures below. Also, city FD used an extrication technique that I haven't seen before. An assistant chief told me that it's a new technique, pics and description here: Extrication Through the Back Windshield

PD first on scene

EMS fly car on scene

Fire on scene and DOA on the ground

Driver arrested

Thats great!

Cortland is currently in the process of setting up a mass MCI drill, with over 150 patients. - Scenario is along the lines of an enraged student shooting and planting a device in the football stadium. We plan to have over 300 responders, and hopefully the national guard. Still in the works, but its coming along.
