Now, today is by far not the hottest day we've had 'round here, but seems extra shitty out today with the extreme humidity.
Add some turnout gear and its makes it even more fun.
Cool Down- just as important as extinguishing a fire or cutting someone outta a car. Some depts have those "misters", and they work great. For those of us who dont have 'em, here's some helpful hints/suggestions....
You can take a booster line, hang it over a nearby tree branch and make an instant shower for the brothers to cool down after battling the devil.... same goes for your breslin distributor, might as well use it for something!
And, I've seen it before (not in my shop, but others), not the most professional thing in the world, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.... neighbors with pools. They're nice enough to offer it to you, take your gear off and take a quick dip. It will drop your body temp nice & quick. Dont play 'marco polo", get it, get out, get home.
Remember, we all go home. Heat exhaustion leads to many firefighter deaths each year.
And PS- dont forget your brothers in blue too... you have cold water, why shouldnt he/she? Granted they didnt stretch a line, but he/she has been bakin the the sun directing traffic or whatnot.
And you mean "Bresnan" Distributor, not Breslin.
Breslin is a device that blows off lots of hot air, once employed by both the Daily News and Newsrag as a reporter. writer.

LOL, please PM me the wesbite where I can buy that as I think Jr will love it!
Yes, you are correct, got my tools names mixed up with reporters... "Someone bring me the (Rosanna) Scotto hose jacket" he he
Hang a booster line over a stop sign/no parking sign/speed limit sign and secure it with a hose strap. Makes an instant cooling station or emergency decon shower.
is it true that warm watter is better for hydrating you and at ports 2 tens i was at messenger and this guy who i later found out is the head of VEEB cames to our fire and was hosing down people with a booster line, i even got a neck massage from him kinda weird
One of the best things i have ever had the pleasure of using at a class that I was taking and it was like 110 in the shade. Take a look it's worth the money!

Throw an extra pair of socks and a t-shirt somewhere on the rig where only you will know where to find it. For someone like me who sweats like a mad man wearing my gear in this heat, it sure helps to have dry clothes either on the rig or back on my gear rack

lmfao....but who would want to wear someone elses socks?
cooler water may be considered better than ice cold water. With the cool chair, do not use Ice Water. Ice water may only feel cooler, however, like we learned in ice and cold water emergencies, the cold slows things down and shunts blood flow from the skin. You want to have cool to ambient water. As the blood circulates it will disipate the heat and transfer the cooler blood flow throughout the body. Same thing for drinking water. warmer, not ice cold water / fluids are absorbed more quickly.
i dont get it? im saying for you to hide your socks on the rig so when you need dry socks after you dress down you can go get your socks and throw them on, or a dry t-shirt as well... im not saying have one pair of socks on the rig for everyone and just put it back when ur done, just a pair of dry socks for yourself
