There's a pulloff with a couple of phone booths at the southbound Shelter Rock Road exit. NOBODY uses pay phones anymore, but every time I pass that exit there's at least one or two cars there. What's up with that?
Don't forget that on the westbound side of the Northern State at the Lakeville Road North exit there is the same thing, always cars stopped there using the phones.
I'm not questioning the phones...it's just that this pulloff always has several cars in it. I think IPTRUCKEE is thinking along the lines I was...is this a known pick-up spot or something like that?
Southern State still has the phone boths East & West where the old toll booths were (by the State PD barracks). There's always cars there too, especially eastbound in the afternoon / evening.
