Optonline is blocking emails to/from the Rant for some reason...so a lot of new registrants are not receiving their activation emails.

If you're having this problem, please try to register providing an email address from a provider other than Optonline.

This problem goes beyond new registrations -- all Contact Us emails sent to the Rant for the past few months have been "lost" in this Optonline problem -- please understand that we're not ignoring you -- IT'S JUST THAT THE SCUMBAG DOLANS HAVE PREVENTED ME FROM GETTING YOUR EMAILS.

We're working on it...one of the first things we're doing is extricating ourselves from any relationship with Optimumonline. We should successfully receive all Contact Us and Feedback emails from this point forward -- please be patient in waiting for a response, as we get a large volume of such emails.

are there amany cablevision customers left ? everyone i know has verizon...hey just offer them some money..they need after all, they only own cable tv, madison square garden and tons of investment properties ! why shouldnt they squeeze us all for a couple more $

Just on a side note - A friend had a problem with his Verizon router - after much tinkering I called Verizon for him. They went thru the usual reset BS over the phone then they asked me if anyone would be home in the next hour or so because they would be there right away. I called at 3pm and they were there and gone by 4:30. Problem was a bad router and it was replaced on the spot plus the guy threw him a few extra goodies for his PC. Now I don't work for Verizon but that is great customer service in my book !!!

Verizon customer for about two years now i can tell you the only thing i miss about cablevison is the HOT traffic girls on news12 other then that way better HD quailty and alot more channels and internet is way faster just my 2cents

My cable service has been fantastic, and getting better because they are trying to upshow verizon. Though cable rates are higher, verizon is not cheaper. Their taxes are different because they are a telephone communications type corporation, vs. cablevision, which started as a cable company (LOLOL). So I have no tax on my phone and a few on my cable (TV).

Cable customers should have another e-mail as back-up (like MSN or yahoo) as the firewall from optonline.net is very strong.

In addition to excellent service by Verizon, I like the fact that my telephone, cell phone, internet and television are all on 1 bill. Cuts way down on bookkeeping.

I used to use Cablevision, but they got so expensive and their service sucked. I switched to Verizon and have never looked back.

I know I started a thread on this a few weeks ago, but wanted to add my 2 cents here......

I made the switch to Verizon last week. Picture / internet far superior. Got like 40 more channels for the same $$ as Cable (although most movies suck anyhow, but I do love the old comdies on Ch 243 at night) A phone is a phone, so no biggie there.

HOWEVER, since I converted last week, I've received more then 100 telemarketers calling. I got one of them to admit to me today that Verizon sold them my phone # (which I had ported over, it's not a new #), and that Verizon gets paid for every number they sell. When we confronted Verizon, they vehemently denied selling our number. They told me to register w/ the Do Not Call List, which I already did, but takes anywhere from 30-90 days to kick in.

So I'm not sure who's jerking me off here, but bottom line is beware of this scam w/ Verizon. I had Cable for almost 20 years and never had this problem. Anyone else have the same problem?

I had Verizon about 3 months ago and I did not have that problem. The only reason i switch back to cablevision because the building i recently moved into did not have Verizon Fios. Dont ever, ever, ever switch back to Cablevision. You will really notice the major difference between Verizon and Cablevision. The computer is much slower, the TV picture is garbage, and now my wife and I complains everyday!!!!
