Anyone know what happened (if anything) in the Lawrence-Cedarhurst area today? Heard from an aquaintence about a school lockdown and alot of PD activity.

Gotum and Guns were on DT with 325.. It was for the kids' safety... lol

From what we knew there was a single cell phone call of a suspicious male with a shotgun in the vicinity of Central and washington avenues. It ended up being unfounded. The schools did a great job.

Dear Parents:

This is to apprise you that we had a precautionary lockdown situation this morning on our campus. The lockdown was due to a potential threat that was outside our school buildings but within the neighborhood.

During lockdown, all occupants remain in the building. No-one enters or leaves the premises. Gym classes and recess are held indoors and field trips are cancelled. Every attempt is made not to alarm the children and to maintain an orderly school environment.

Our building principals, security and custodial staff implemented their various responsibilities flawlessly. The lockdown lasted approximately one hour. The children were never under any threat of danger and all classes and routines continued normally.

Baruch Hashem, all is fine. Special thanks to our entire staff for their teamwork and professionalism during the brief crisis.

i was in quarters when this job came over, i didnt hear it over 4/5 but one of our resident scanner monitors called me on the nextel and advised me to look outside and see if this armed male was present being that 320 is located at that intersection...it turned out to be unfounded.
