Tellem was at command post and 231 X was incharge I think. 239 and jm approved where trying to put it out with two water cans and a hook -Long Beach style!

In some of the earlier training books distributed by the NCFSA, this fire was used as, and described as an example on how to mitigate a large scale incident.

Beleive it or not I was actually at this fire, it was in the 60's, my father had me on his shoulders (yes, I was alot lighter back then) watching the fire! So blame him!

could you imagine how many pages of posts a fire of this magnitude would get today, sh!t food on the stove, a bay of fire or an oil burner puff back gets a few pages....there would be alot of me, me ,me I, I, I on something like this....Even atop his ole man's shoulders i have a feeling 231x had something to do with the command stages of this job!

The President Hotel was at the Southwest Corner of Laurelton Blvd. & West Broadway. The "Superblock" is between Long Beach Blvd & Edwards Blvd - South of East Broadway.
