I can see why Job's wouldn't want to create a 3G device up front.
Think about it...
EDGE is the most accessible data network world wide. GSM (voice) has more carriers than CDMA or any other technology.
Catering to 3G (UMTS / WCDMA) would have caused battery problems with the radio.
It also would only work on a small percentage of worldwide carriers...
Remember, you can buy an iPhone all over the globe now.. AT&T has USA Exclusive, not world wide.
As far as local, AT&T has an extensive GSM / EDGE network. They are still building out the 3G network nationwide (also on Long Island as well).
Finally.. why come out w/ a 3G model up front?? Would you want to "blow your wad" right off the bat? Come one, he's going to want to get you for upgrades, won't he??
I was thinking the same thing as the previous post, I've had BNN and MNS, and by far the most accurate info I ever received is either in the chatbox or the Signal 10 section of this site........
that works for me...
step can be our first dispatcher

anyone know how someone would go about doing that?
For a start, the admin of the Rant Paging Service would have to get in touch with a paging service company (1RWN uses USA Mobility) to discuss partnering, or contracting with each other.
Maybe this time it can. Just keep in mind that this is expensive, we'd have to pay for pagers, software, pager minutes, and maybe even paid administrators.
Maybe it is easier to hook up with 1st responder, maybe they can implement somthing onto the rant (with the boss's permission of course) that will allow us to send out notifications.. 1st responder could only benefit from this... not sure what the rant boss could get out of it though
