6 story building right near the classroom building. Near the roof simulator and the SCBA trailers. They still use it for ground ladder training I believe.

Did you use the wooden 35 footer with the "tormentors" ?
They had a metal one when I went to Primaries in 1996 we did not use it though here is another instructor you guys may remember I had him for Ladders 2 during primaries he was talking about that ladder that ESU2422 was talking about the Chief's name was Chief George Gander any of you guys remember him.
It's called a Bangor Ladder. They can go as long as 50' and are a royal pain to put up. I remember putting up the wooden one they had at the FSA a number of years ago. I don't remember how long it was.
Haven't been in the tower for a few years, but if remember correctly at least a few years ago, that one stairwell was marked with the ground floor as floor 1 and the other stairwell started with L lobby. was a bit confusing at first
I remember when I was a deputy chief we got called out in the middle of the night for the dwelling. When we got there the roof was roaring. Obviuosly someone missed something on thier secondary that night. Had alot of laughs calling the chief of the dept that f@#ked up and breaking his balls about HIS rekindle!!!
As far as Scaling Ladders I know the city used to have them on their ladders I was also told if you made a rescue from one you would get a medal. As far as out here the last time I saw a scling ladder was in May of 2002 on Long Beaches Tower Ladder 2372 I do no know if it was actually used or if it was just there for show

Ladder was placed into service by Ex- Chief Kevin Toth (RIP). We were given special training at the ncfsa, and it was there just in case needed. Now its hung in the firehouse. Not to many guys left who were certified to use it still around. The joke was that it would probably be safer doing a roof rope rescue than using it. But it did look sweet when it was mounted on the rig.
I remember reading about one city department that had the scaling ladder at the end of the academy. It seemed more of a right of passage than actual training.
