I'd almost put money on it that most applicants have no idea that the starting pay has increased and you can now get health benefits after 30 days instead of 6 months. When I was going through the hiring process, the applicant investigators had very little information with regards to salary and benefits. The first day of the academy is when most found out that you had to wait 6 months for benefits. Thankfully, things have changed with this last contract.
The problem with our investigations is that it is run by the NCPD applicant investigations unit that know nothing about our job, i knew more from family and friends prior to going. It's the county so im sure nothing changed much!
those dates seem pretty accurate.....i heard from someone in the academy that the class is going in november 14th......and also i believe that medical benefits kick in right away with the new contract

Ok ill check, someone i know was called today, and was told that they have been accepted and to be ready to start on the 21st.
Not much notice in advance huh? I have yet to hear anything, but I hope they don't try and tell me to be anywhere on the 21st, I'll be on vacation.
Did you even go for the physical or the background investigation yet with a score of 90? Don't expect the job to cater to your needs. If they tell you to be there November 21st you cancel your vacation. it is as simple as that
even 1 week notice to start is alot.....after the entire hiring process was complete i got called on a tuesday to start the academy that thursday
They have been approved for 25 recruits, they have 20 that have accepted the job, and still waiting to contact 2 applicants. The county is having trouble getting 25 intime for the 21st, so maybe thats why they started calling earlier!.
Can someone confirm that this class going in was from the '07 test and not the April '08 test. I got a 90 on the '08 test and haven't heard anything from them
