In Hicksville in 03 we had two brand new guys running buckets for the first time. I run to my spot at the ladder, turn around expecting the first bucket but instead see a pile of guys at the trough. Turns out first guy slipped and numbers 2 and 3 went right into him. We were never that good at buckets, but it was a bad day for everyone and a 27, which we could run, took a point. We also lost our hose team in c-hose but came back with a nice B-hose shot to knock Roslyn out of the lead County points (they tied with the Hornets in hose). We had to put a replacement guy at hydrant in efficiency who missed, and then another replacement at stick in pump "who knew exactly what he was doing," but pushed the stick instead of pulling it and turned what would have been a great shot into nothing. Went from placing to being out of the mix that quickly.
Kosmo, Im not trying to turn this into an arguement. Any time any team steps on the track there is pressure to perform. You as a "7 TIME STATE CHAMP" more than anybody should know better. As for being up three going into buckets, ask the Hornets(the best bucket team in the state the last few years) if there was any pressure going into buckets up FOUR. What we do everyweek is not a normal activity. I thought YOU knew more about racing, but patting yourself on the back must be your thing, "7 time champ".
I would wish you luck, but unlike everyone else there is never any pressure on you.
Good luck to all others including RVC.
Enough of this O.F talk, GO MOTORIZED!
Bigsexy, far from patting myself on the back. Plenty of things I could pat myself for but that would only give me a sore shoulder HaHa (just kidding). As a racer for 17 years I thought you would know better and know something about pressure. Just my opinon regarding the slip in the County. I just thought the track might have been a bit slippery.
From looking at the Battalion Drill results the following teams are missing (some obviously are doing motorized):
Baldwin (Motor), Oceanside, Inwood, Meadowmere Park, Atlantic Steamer, Roslyn (Motor), Sea Cliff, East Norwich, Oyster Bay(Motor), Glen Cove, Glenwood (Motor).
Babylon ran last year and currently aren't entered either.
The potential is there to have a few more teams and near the 15 team mark. Considering there were only 8 last year this looks like a nice improvement.
oceanside eggnoggers should be there! so thats another team, the 5th battalion teams are jsut that 5th battalion teams for the most part. i miss the plainsmen from plainview... they were one fast hose team (never did ladder events)
looks like it should be an exciting day....alittle thrown off with the yellow birds going since there is a motorized drill the next day but nice to see 12 teams running and still some more possibilities out there.
