We're discussing Nassau Pols tell FD's to Phuk Off
From what I've heard the numbers are not so great for the fire service...we have someone looking into the budget to determine what the story is. We'll post the findings on the board once we know the deal.
The Nassau County Legislature approved the County Budget Unanimosly (sorry about the spelling) There was no money for fire marshals, PD Amt's, and Firecom.
In a LAME attempt to save face, a meeting was held in Elmonts HQ with ONE legislator showing up and blaming everyone he could ..but when its comes down to it he voted for the budget also. A complete sham and the sad thing is some of the Batt delegates fell for it. (political hacks also)
No fire marshals means hazards will be left unchecked ..putting us at risk
No County PD tec's just increase the load on an already over burdened vol. FD EMS
Firecom remains in a basement with its operators exposed to hazards
They are all a bunch of phonies, just worried about re election
They have told us to Phuck off. They deserve NO SUPPORT from us both Democrat and republican
Due to the lack of responses to this topic it seems the Vol fire service has rolled over and played dead once again. The democrats and the republicans both shoved it to us good.
Why make waves, just piss on our head and tell us its raining.

Not true brother. The "lack of responses" can be attributed to the fact that this message board is barely a month old, and generating traffic here will take time. We have a modest (very modest!) advertising budget which will begin to help in the coming months -- but the thing that will help the most is if users like yourself help spread the word.
As for the legislature screwing the fire service, we have members looking into the details, and once we have a clearer picture of the reality of the situation we won't hesitate to RANT against the deserving legislators and other politicians.
I Blame each of the legislators. There were 10 legislators that were going to support the fire service and none of them kept their word. At the meeting in Elmont it slowly became a Souzzi beat fest but everyone seemed to forget the FACT that both the Democrats and the REPUBLICAN members voted for this budget.
I guess you can piss on everyone heads in that room that night and they would belive it was raining.
TO ALL CONCERNED:
JUST ARRIVED TO NASSAU COUNTY AFTER A FEW DAYS AT THE NEVELE. THOUGH THE SPEAKERS THIS YEAR WERE EXCEPTIONAL, THE TOPIC OF COUNTY POLITICS WAS EVEN GREATER.
OFFICERS FROM THE FIRE COMMISSION, AND THE ASSOCIATION OF FIRE DISTRICTS, GATHERED TO DISCUSS THE NEW BUDGET. AS I STATED MANY TIMES BEFORE, BE WHERE OF THE SMOKE AND MIRRORS. MANY EMPTY PROMISES WERE MADE TO THE FIRE SERVICE TO PREVENT AN AGGRESIVE PETERSON CAMPAIGN. MANY ITEMS THAT APPEARS TO HAVE GONE THROUGH, STILL HAVE LOOPHOLES, THAT MAKE IT EASY FOR THE COUNTY TO GET AROUND.
THE SUBJECT OF ADDITIONAL AMBULANCES, FIRE MARSHALL STAFFING, PRE-EMPTION, V.E.E.B. AND OTHER ITEMS OF CONCERN, WERE OMITTED OR WRITTEN TO BENEFIT THE COUNTY.
ONCE AGAIN THE SUOZZI ADMINISTRATION, HAS DISRESPECTED THE FIRE SERVICE. WITH ELECTION DAY CLOSE, IT WOULD BE NICE TO THE FIRE SERVICE STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CLOSE ELECTION.
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO PRE-ELECTION PRESS RELEASES FOR ALL THE INSIDE INFO.[/b]
Suozzi and the Legislature are the ones to blameGo to Top

Is Souzzi a fan of the Fire service NO WAY. But to sit here and think that Suozzi is the main person to blame regarding these cuts is wrong. First off I am no fan of Souzzi, he has ignored us for years and only recently has he shown any interest in the Fire service.
The Blame belongs to the Nassau County Legislature who unanimosly passed this budget. BOTH DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS who were aware that this budget did not include money for the Fire Marshals, PD AMT's and Firecom.
The County Legislature put politics ahead of the safety of its resident and firefighters. THEY ARE ALL A DISGRACE.
Ask your local Legislator why he/she voted the way they did
Bluelight, I hear ya and agree that the legislature screwed us royally, but to down play the significance the role the County Executive plays in this is just plain wrong. The County Executive sets the tone, he gets total access to the media and has the power to make any item in the budget a health and safety issue. The bottom line is if Suozzi wanted to prioritize our needs he could have made a big deal over it, he didn't, but we will on Tuesday! Remeber, "The fish stinks from the head down". Hang in there with the rest of us.
Put Suozzi and the legislature on the HOT SEATGo to Top
Oh believe me I think that Souzzi is a big Di*k towards that fire service and I know that only recently he has begun to come out and show his face at Department Functions. Hey its election time and he obviously is worried and he should be, HE'S A PHONY. But, the Legislature has really just pissed me off. I am a Republican but this is a subject that both sides should have put as a priority and both sides should be questioned as to why they voted like they did.
What would be the big deal if the "10" supporters that we had on the republican side voted against this budget. The message they could have put out to the County could go something like this....
"Today I (insert name) voted down this budget, I cannot allow residents and firefighters serving our communities put their lives in danger BY FAILING to support Fire Marshals, PD AMTS and Firecom This budget has ignored public safety and I cannot support it"
I would support 110% any legislature who would have the balls to do that, and I'm sure any person not in the fire service reading that would agree also. But they allowed their political agendas to interfere with doing the right thing. SOMETIMES THE RIGHT VOTE IS NOT THE POPULAR ONE

From what I understand a Rally/Press Conference is scheduled for 2:15 PM tomorrow (Monday Nov. 7) at Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiners Avenue in Levittown (old KMart building) to protest the 2006 budget.
There has been a press release distributed stating that the event is well-organized, and will include rigs, Class-A uniformed members etc.
Fire service is not rolling over for this one. Good turnout at the rally today, specifically to say that we are not happy with the way we were treated in the '06 budget, and that we're not going to take it lying down.
Don't forget to vote tomorrow, November 8th! Tell the probies and newer guys to get off their asses and vote too -- and explain why Suozzi is no friend of the fire service or Nassau tax payers, and that he HAS TO GO!
