seagrave is very much still in buisness, my co is going down in two weeks for the inprocess inspection of our new rearmount stick. this truck is very close to hempstead ladder 2. seagrave is the company that many large cities use, La,NY,Wash Dc, just to name a few.
Can someone enlighten me as to the popularity of the Mack trucks and the white jericho macks. Why are they so popular? Design, look, or functionality?
the Mack trucks are some of the best trucks built for a few MAIN reasons...
early Macks...Pre like 1980ish were ALL Mack...
no half mack/ salsbury etc.
and mack makes there own motor..early Macks had a B series gas motor....then came the Thermodyne diesel, and the most popular Maxidyne engine.
these engines were built to do work. last forever, and can take a beating.
also mack made there own transmissions.
how great is it to have a truck...that IF it were to break down, you could take it to ONE place, and have them do EVERYTHING right there...not bring it there for a cabinet door not working...and the engine having problems...but having to wait for the Cummins Rep. to come take a look at it...
they faded out in FD design becuase they didnt want to make there popular CF cab an enclosed cab...
many if not all CF closed cabs are Retro-fitted by another company.

Westbury (968) had the last ALL Mack engine, it was MACK bumper to bumper. It was replaced by a KME.
good luck with them ---- insert (Ferrara's, Smeals, Seagraves, Pierces, Crimsons, Rescue1's, ALF's, Crowns-- etc.) should talk to depts that have them the service is good but the truck have fun
Amazing how a perfectly decent-FYI thread can be degraded by individuals who may be motivated by an agenda counter to just providing info for our bro's to decipher.
Good luck to all regardless of nameplate & Stay Safe.

Going to Pierce March 19-21 to design striping and leafing on new EMFD 619 (RMAP). It will be painted on 3/11 and go onto chassis line on the 12th. Delivery is scheduled for mid April. It's a 100' rear mount aerial platform on a Velocity 84" cab. I will post pictures when I return.
