I saw 73 flying (j/k ESU2422) past the medical center today...a ford van chassis with a nose that looks like the super duty pickups...don't think I've seen that before.

EAB has 3 of these chassis, 2008 Ford E450's... Just some sheet metal & plastic changes to fit a new motor which isn't available yet. They still have the 6.0 in them. The cab interiors are identical to the 06 & 07's.

By the way all of them are on remounted boxes who's original chassis were damaged in accidents.

do the operators of these buses have to be re-evoc(ed)

because the chevy 4500 chassis is a lot bigger then a E350. and is going to handle different in situations.

probably something EAB would like to find out before in training...then during the real thing.

but then again its NCPD...so im sure police officers and the EAB are thoroughly trained how to drive this new chassis in and out of emergency mode.............

As an aside, when I worked for fdny ems we got a brand new bus in that had the word ambulance on the hood lettered upside down. I guess there was some sort of mis-communication. Would've worked great if we ever flipped it but unfortunately it ever only made it on to it's side.

No. the members are not re-evoc(ed).
Yes, the new Chey 4500 is way bigger than the Fords.

The flaws that i see are the mirrors and width. The right "A" post and mirrors obstucts the view... so i hope others will slow it down at the intersections. (hint)
The width of the bus is wider than the Fords, (widest point are the mirrors)

When I took the delivery of this bus, I was told to inform my relief and other ops of the brakes (which feel different), width, patient compartment rides like a truck, and just use common sense.

Overall, the new 2353 handles very nicely. It's very powerful and fast.
One thing I've noticed is that the other motorists DO stop and yield right of way, knowing that a bigger vehicle is coming down the road (unlike the fords-where they can care less).

I just fear the cops wrapping it up since they're not used to driving something this big...although most cops love driving it.

...I dont care if NCPD EAB reverts back to 1978 Ford Econoline "Van Style" ambulances..

...So long as the operators of said EAB busses are their....

...The other thing I havent seen 'round here lately is how many "saves" through NCPD EAB there's been....betcha it beats balls off of FD's....

.... How 'bout NCPD RMP's & Other PD cars with AED's, yada yada...

...9 outta 10 dont give a shit what its says on any FD or PD rig when they're in cardiac arrest...
