I will ask again, where are you getting your info from??

Again, like I stated......... I would expect this to be an APCO-25 Digital system.... but with out any hard sources, its strictly my own theory.. Are you getting "inside" info, and from where?? I'm looking for hard facts, not rumors..

The system is ASTRO 25 Smartzone (APCO 25). The system has been staged, tested, and delivered. It will be installed as sites are acquired/prepped. As we all know well, some sites are in hand and some are works-in-progess.

As an aside, Motorola only makes two basic flavors of public safety trunking. The 3600 baud control channel and the 9600 baud control channel. The 3600 can operate in analog or digital; it is Motorola proprietary. The 9600 is the APCO-25 standard and is, of course, all digital.

Is this why the 6th Pct has a new 100ft antenna in the front of the building??

The digital systems are nice, but they will distort your voice a bit. It's kinda funny---makes everyone sound a little robotic.

i wonder how much clearer this system will be, and how much stronger it will be... any comparison to say, a trunked system?

This system IS a trunked system, with conv freqs for various uses as well.

There are ways to listen to traffic, even digital but no Motorola portables that are not authorised for the system will have any possibility to access it or follow a conversation.

I haven't heard any activities on these freqs since they were demoed a few years back.

I'm sure once they start using it - there will be some time before they fully test it - and then simulcats, and then finally migrate over to them....

There will be plenty of warning before that time comes.....
So - with out really answering the question, there is your answer

Negative.. You need a digital scanner. Assuming that the channels won't be "encoded".
