New Unmarked NCPD Highway Patrol Units? 6/25/09Go to Top
Yesterday, around 6:15 pm, I was coming home from Suffolk going into Nassau I saw a black unmarked Tahoe all lit up, had a car pulled over w/b LIE @ Robbins La and a mile west of that a black unmarked Durango all lit up had another car pulled over w/b LIE @ North Broadway. I was wondering if they added a few unmarked black SUV's to NCPD Highway Patrol.

no im just giving the area where i saw him. he pulls people over on sunrise highway. he hides right by the on ramp, not on it my bad. but he went a little overboard with the lights in his car, every window has aleast three lights and then he has what looks like a fireball hideaway that he tosses up on his roof.

just like rockville centre has an undercover long island taxi, ironically numbered "13". They usually use it to pick up drunk kids and not only make them pay for the cab fare, but also an appearance ticket for underage consumption of alcohol and drunk in public.

I'm pretty sure he didnt go overboard, maybe the department did.

The blacked out chevy tahoe with the normal NY State Vehicle License Plate seen in Freeport with all the lights is not a K-9 cop. He is a PO who does a lot of traffic stops. The car was not built by him or by his specs and the lights were a package how the Village of Freeport PD did it. Im pretty sure there is no fireball or rotating light he puts on the roof. Every light in that car is hideaway leds or tucked in some corner. Very nice when its lit up.

No, the State Police have taken a sensible approach and do not do traffic stops in unmarked vehicles. They put public safety over ticket production. If we ever get a legislature, they should make it state law, no unmarked vehicles for routine traffic stops.
