Got another request in the mail today to subscribe to Newsday. I write on their form something to the effect of:
"I am a proud volunteer firefighter for over 31 years. When Newsday stops its assault on the volunteers, I'll gladly subscribe. In the mean time, thanks for the postage!" Always sign my name too.
I've done this probably a dozen times over the years. It comes in a postage-paid envelope. If every ranter did the same, do the math what it cost Newsday..........

I canceled the "Purple Pack" of supermarket circulars that Newsday mails every week. It's a huge waste of paper that always went directly from the mailbox to the garbage...but Newsday gets paid to send it to my house, so screw them.
Call the subscription # on the plastic wrap and cancel it.

I was in my department's radio room doing a 15 when the phone rings. I was thinking it was a chief with a last min notification. It was this guy from newsday ahh yeah i went over while the air with my sign on and after he heard it while i was going with a notification he said "oh fire department? nevermind" then he hung up.
