WOMAN GIVES BIRTH IN AMBULANCE. A North Bellmore woman gave birth to a girl in an ambulance en route to the hospital yesterday. Nassau police said an ambulance responded to a call at about 7 a.m. and found the 34-year-old woman in labor. She was placed in the vehicle for transportation to Nassau University Medical Center. But before the ambulance reached the hospital, the birth began. With the assistance of two medical technicians, the mother, whom police did not identify, successfully made a breech birth delivery. The baby was 17 inches long and weighed 5 pounds. Police said both mother and daughter were admitted to the East Meadow hospital.
