I'm "resurrecting" this thread....
A) For the benefit of "newbies"
B) To re-illustrate 2 key factors,
1) Safety
2) The "Limited Manpower" theory....
..."Too many cooks spoil the broth" (or however it goes)....
...How many people can you fit in your house or apartment when you have a party? Now throw a handline, some
SCBA's & turnout gear on them and how many can you fit then?
..."Limited Manpower" isnt always a terrible thing- thats why god invented mutual aide. BUT, people should be AWARE & TRAINING for the possibility that only 10 people might show up for a daytime working fire.
(And, quite frankly, sometimes 10 is better than 50)

*NOTE* The pictures below are not meant to criticize ANY dept's operation, they are purely to illustrate a point or two.
One the the best things about our gig is TEAMWORK. We're all more than willing to help each other out all the time. But sometimes, ya have to put the brakes on and stop & take a look. Some times too much is enough.....
Granted, a 2.5" line. But, trying to advance a 2.5" with 6 guys right on top of each other is a challenge.

Thats one tight stairwell! Where's everyone gonna end up? What if one of the brothers has to get out quick?
