The only vice presidential debate involving governor Palin and senator Biden will be taking place tomorrow night in st.louis at 9pm. This should be a very interesting debate to say the least. The media in some instances have already projected Biden as the winner and the debate is still a day away. Let's see what the debate tomorrow night brings to either ticket.

It will be interesting. Some folks think Biden has the most to lose due to higher expectations for him.
The McCain campaign has done Palin a real disservice, imo, by sheltering her from the media except for the two high profile interviews where she basically crashed and burned. They would have been better just letting her freely talk to the media, especially the local press at campaign stops, since they usually have the most benign questions, and she could have gotten some practice.
National Public Radio profiled both VP candidates on their Morning Edition program on Monday and Tuesday of this week. For Monday's profile, Nina Tottenberg interviewed Biden; for Tuesday's, she reported that the McCain campaign would not allow her to interview Palin. Really sent a bad message for Palin to several million voters nationwide.
Biden, who clearly has more experience on the National stage, has put his foot in his mouth a few times as well. Especially when he said FDR got on the TV right after the stock market crash to reassure the nation. The stock market crashed in October, 1929, FDR became President in March, 1933, and TV wasn't commercially available until sometime in around 1947. Oops.
Biden probably is by far on paper the most qualified to be President if the need arises, but Palin, like Dan Quayle, probably isn't as dumb as she has looked lately.

Watched the debate. Thought Biden had the clear advantage, he seemed to respond to questions with facts, she, with pious platitudes
Listened to the pundits after, and she was rated as performing well...
She held her own. She made some mistakes and dodged a few questions, but Biden made some mistakes as well, and she stood tall and went toe to toe with Biden. Biden defintely seems more experienced but she proved she belonged there. She used "maverick" a little too much but she did well.
15 minutes into it i said to my wife..."shes getting shot down already"...i honestly thought biden had the upper-hand.....she started really slow...wtf was biden smiling about the whole time?
Palin touched all of the talking points and clearly became more confident as the debate progressed. She dodged a few questions and I was surprised the moderator did not redirect her to answer. Very interesting.
Biden did what he needed to do: he reinforced his experience with foreign policy and he kept saying that he and Barack will bring change without putting his Buster Browns in his own pie-hole.
They both were noticeably rattled at times but both recovered well without being knocked out.
Heres my view, for what its worth. Probably not much, but anyhow. This is the first time I can say I am torn between the candidates for president. And admitingly, I do not know much of anything about Biden. From a President POV, I have little problem with either getting elected. However, the race for VP is a different story.
Palin, much like Biden, I know little about. But they promoted her so much I decided to look her up. She alarms me. One thing that bothers me a lot is her view of her home state, Alaska. Aparently she supported the Alaskan Independence Party, which supports the secession of Alaska from the US (Secessionist Palin Story: McCain Camp Pushes Back). I searched on Youtube and found a few videos of her making statements in support of them (including what appeared to be a PSA for them). This bothers me a lot because how can we have someone in office that tried to have her state secede from the USA? As I said I dont know much about Biden, but this really irks me. Anyone have info that might clarify this if I am misunderstanding this?
Consider the source emsdude: You don't get any more [lunatic fringe] Left then the Huffington Post.
As a Governor, I saw a video of her welcoming that group to Alaska for their annual convention. I am sure it was done for all of the other parties who had their annual functions as well. I guess those videos come with the territory when you're in the Big Chair.
Too be honest I've seen it a lot of places, but just picked that one. I've never even heard of Huffington Press, so what do I know.
I did more research, and aparently it was her husband, not her, that was a member. Thank you for helping me clarify this. Alaskan Independence Party
I still disagree on her views with abortion (no to rape and incest??), sex ed (although I know I will catch heat for this one), and her being a member of a big lobbying organization (NRA. I am not saying I agree or disagree with them, but to me it's the same as having a VP in ACLU, or on the Board of ExonnMobil, it just is a big conflict of interest). Again I am not trying to bash her but I disagree strongly with this. And for all I know Biden may be just as bad, or worse, but with her being so popular in the news I have taken more time to read up on her.
Both VP candidates composed themselves in a professional, dignified manner last night.
While I support BO, I've never been afraid of McCain winning the election ... until he chose Palin as his running mate and she started bombing out and embarassing herself ... but she recovered nicely last night.
I was happy with Biden's substance, and am somewhat comforted by Palin's recovery and composure because she might be the proverbial "heartbeat away" from the Presidency!
Both candidates talked way too much about their running mates and what their running mates would do. There was not really any "What would you do?" questions posed to either candidate.
I already know that Biuden supports Obama and Palin supports McCain. The only question that they seemed to answer based on their own view was the gay marraige issue.
I thought she held her own once she got comfortable.
Im so anti-politician that I couldnt get past the "cookie cutter" way Biden answers questions. They seemed very pompous and not real. Not to say that Palin was perfect, but I felt a little more honesty out of her, she has a natural aura of being a powerful and headfirst kind of woman(which turns me on) and a little less stuffiness that usually emits from a hot air filled politician during speeches. Im giving it to her based on overall feeling of truth and not the general " IF WE GET ELECTED" BULLSH*T that has turned me off to these types. Im not thrilled with either candidate, I think BO is more sharp and squared off and able, but Mcain I feel is more true American...so basically, I sit confused. ...anyone share this.?

I'm torn and confused too. To me, it's pretty scary that it came down to the four of them as our only candidates from out of the millions of people that that live in the US. I've seen more talent on American Idol.
Seriously America......I this the best we can do ???

The nature of American politics (specifically the despicable negative garbage you have to be a part of in any campaign cycle) simply deters the most-qualified Americans from running for office. Anyone with the ethics, morality and sense of fairness that are absolutely necessary to truly lead effectively will not be inclined to participate in the slimeball game of American politics. Barack Obama charged out of the gate last year claiming that his campaign would "rise above" all the trashing and negativity of the "same old Washington politics," and has proceeded to enthusiastically roll around in the negative pig slop with the best (or worst) of them.
Thought Palin did a good job presenting herself as one of us and as a Washington outsider willing to take a stand on important issues based upon the best interests of the Country and not Party or special interest groups. Biden came off as a typical three decade Senator who will give us more of the same --- a bagful of meaningless slanted facts and figures.
I typically vote for the candidate and not the party in most elections so I am neither a staunch conservative nor liberal --- somewhere in the middle. My tendency is to lean towards those individuals who I feel are independent minded and present true character that in my opinion will operate in the best interests of my family and Country. They’re a rare breed in politics.
Obama has a natural speaking ability and is very charismatic. However, his past history and current visions are way to far left for my liking.
I pretty much judge most people and politicians level of character by this? --- If the two candidates asked me to go and take that hill in battle which one would be right behind supporting me every step of the way willing to take the bullet with or for me? Coward or Brother?
I only wish Palin took Biden to task a bit more, he made many misrepresentations of McCain’s record and she really missed the opportunity to pounce. See the attached power point link. http://www.greatamericanjournal.com/...EFANNIEMAE.pps
McCain better get his debating act together and really take Obama to task on his past lack of record and current policy views.
