Just when you thought you knew a lot about construction. “Foam”. This is starting to be seen in the Fairfax County, VA area. I thought maybe the troops back on the Island might be interested.
I have also seen a cornice made out of this foam. Be very careful when going up on a roof. Always sound where you are going to step with a tool. If you are unsure, move the ladder to a new spot, and look out for wires as well.
Good info. I guess saving a couple of extra dollars is more important than saving lives (fire fighters, construction workers, etc.). They should at least invest a couple of more dollars and replace the spray painted warning with a placard of some sort.
As more buildings are renovated and owners realize the energy efficiency of the foam insulation, the fire service will encounter more and more of this. In fact, a number of buildings in my batallion (including a firehouse) have used it. The good thing is it's easy to identify (by appearance and sound). The hard part is disseminating all of this information to the folks that need it. Thanks for doing your part.
TL345VA, thanks for putting that site up. I guess the one I added didn't work. This stuff is starting to go up in Fairfax, VA. Be very careful and go out and preplan.
