Thanks for your service to the residents of Point Lookout and Nassau County.
I had the pleasure of working with Shawn for several years @ T.W.C. and on some other projects in the fire service.
My heart felt sorrow goes out to the Children, wife, and Fire Service families. Shawn was a Great guy, who loved his family, and the fire service very much.
His loss will be felt in his family, as well as PLL, and NCFM office.
thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Guerin family, God Bless all of you and you have my number if you need ANYTHING. Remember this though, we all should be greatful for this great man, Shawn, has kept firefighting in the family blood with not 1 but 3 great fireman. Rest In Peace and God Bless.
I read this thread and as I post I am still in disbelief at what i'm typing...
I'd like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to all of you...we have gotten so much support from the Fire Service...I have received everyones phone calls, text messages and voicemails and emails...to anyone who didnt know, he (my father) frequented this site often...didnt post much but he always read it (his name was FireBay9102)...he was actually the one who first showed me this site one november day back in 2005...the rest is history
the support my family has received has been a true illustration of the Brotherhood of the fire service...members on here, in my company, my dept and brother FFs in neighboring depts...thankyou all...your actions and words have meant a great deal to me and my family...his presence will be sorely missed
Shawn was one of the best people I have meet in life. Our fathers were in the fire department together and, were two of the five that formed the Lido Company in the 50's. Shawns Aunt (Ruth Guerin) was my Mother's maid of honor at my parents wedding in 1947. Shawn and, I went to school together. On our 18th birthdays we couldn't wait to get sworn into the fire department. After school we use to play chess over the phone (before internet). Evertime I had a problem with my computer Shawn always made time for me to fix my mess. Shawn was a stand-up guy. Shawn would love to scream about By-Laws around the fire house and, I would love to get him going. If it was one thing about Shawn he knew his By-Laws! I can't say anuff about Shawn. I am going to miss him dearly. He was true to the heart. Good by old friend. I will miss our conversations but, will cherish our friendship. God Speed.
In 2006 I had the pleasure of sitting thru EMT-CC Refresher with Shawn, and realized if there was to be a true legend of the Nassau County Fire Service, it was Shawn. This man defined Nassau County Fire Service. Dedicated Volunteer, Fire Marshal, EMT-CC, he had all aspects covered. I last saw him at the County Drill and as always, made it a point to walk over, shake this man's hand and say hello.. I will truly miss seeing Shawn in my next refresher, at parades, drills, jobs in the Beach, and anywhere else I may encounter him. RIP Shawn, you are now in heaven's fire department... To Brian and your family, my thoughts and condolences are always with you.. Don't hesitate to reach out at anytime....
