Default Prayers for FDNY Matt Long              Go to Top

FDNY L43 Matt Long was critically injured after being hit by a bus in Manhattan yesterday. He was riding his bike to work due to the transit strike. The 12-year veteran suffered two broken legs, a broken arm and a crushed pelvis, as well as internal injuries. He's in critical condition, and could use your prayers.

Brtohers your prayers are greatly appreciated. If any of you have celebrated St. Patrick's Day on the Upper East Side in the past couple of years you may have enjoyed yourself at one of his family's bars. FYI: He was only riding to the Rock on his bike, because of the transit strike. The bus that hit him, while it was making an illegal turn was hired by a company to shuttle their workers to and from work due to the transit strike. Additionally, a doctor who was paged to the hospital to operate on Matt was not allowed to drive to the hospital by a cop - due to a four person per car restriction set in place as a result of the trasnit strike. This is while the doctor was dressed in scrubs and after he showed the cop his alpha pager with a message summoning him [the doctor] to the hospital for a critically injured firefighter! Blood donations are also needed. Step up!

On a side note, the firefighter from Tower Ladder 13 on the Upper East Side is due to be released from the hospital today. For those of you on aware this brother was donning his mask, while the rig he was riding on was making a turn. As the rig made the turn, he fell - result in very serious injuries. He was in a standing position and the rig was an open cab. It was a spare, the company's assigned rig was out of service.
