Default PRE PLANNING              Go to Top

Just doing some research for a department committee. Does anyone have a form they use to set up their pre-plans. Also how is the pre planning done in your respective departments. If you are willing to share such info, please pm me. Thank you.

A few depts use a company, Fire Technology ??. They go out and use a form that is based on your needs or dept CAD system, such as SCM. They gather the info then either turn it over to you or they will plug it into your system remotely.

Long Island Fire Technology. Been using them for a year. You need to be very specific on what you want, but they do the leg work that you dont have time for,

We have a 1 page form that we send out with Fire Inspections. This year was the first year we did it. It has Address, size, construction, roof, haz mats and several other things on it. The Preplan committee reviews them and will be entering them into Red Alert (we are getting printers on each apparatus floor for dispatch run cards). The ones that are "shotty" are getting redone by the Preplan Committee.

Prices are as reasonable as can be expected. I think we did about 120ish structures for about $130/per unit on average. He charges by the minute. So 4 stores in a small strip mall will probably be 10 minutes per store. Whereas a large elementary school might be 2hrs.

Dont expect a quick win. The project takes a while. It took us about 8months.

The harder part is now I have guys compiling the results, copying, and putting into books.

The hardest part will be getting the front seaters to actually use the info.
