Just Curious if there are Departments with Protocols for Aided Heavy Lifts.

we had 2 indv on opposite sides of town that weighed 600+. We ran 2 medic units (staffed w. 2) / 1 engine / 1 rescue.

with both of them, we would have to remove the stretcher from the back of one bus -abd back it up to the door.

the indv had it written in their living wills, in the event of fire DO NOT attempt to rescue / extricate. That amazed us completely.

They used 2 pallets and a solid piece of oak to fabricate a stretcher for Walter, then he was forklifted to a waiting van.

Some of the private ambulance companies have bariatric buses. I know transcare does.

we had a heavy aided at the towne house in lido several years back...she lived on a second floor which posed a variety of problems...we ended up cutting the railing around her balcony and using the TL and a stokes to remove her...worked fairly well...we have pics somewhere...I'll have to look
