Just exactly what credentials do you have to even comment on these threads? As far as I know both of you are still on the tit and in college(If anyone has further info PM me). I haven't been out of college long but the real world will be quite an eye opener for you.
And what credentials do you need to talk about politics? I'm not telling you how to be an IC or how to teach a R.I.T. class, I'm giving my opinions on politics ... plus, rollover and Whiskey and Navy and 660T and Adze and some other conservative posters here actually enjoy shooting the sheeeit with someone who disagrees with them.
I personally think its fun and a great group here on both sides (with obvious exceptions when people get all persecution on us). Most people just disagree and don't actually hate anyone.
I just want someone to wake me up and tell me this has all been a nightmare.
I caught about 30 seconds of Obama's "victory" speech in a re-airing this morning (I refuse to purposely watch any TV news for the next few weeks because I don't want to keep hearing about how historic this crap is). I'll do my best to recount what I heard Obama say: "To those of you who didn't vote for me I'm going to need your help and support, I am going to be your President too."
Did his kids write that piece of garbage?
Yeah I'd like to help him. Right out of office four years from now.
As for his "landslide victory" -- hardly. Getting 52% of the vote pretty much means 1/2 the country had no desire to see you in office. If 1/2 my customers didn't like me I'd have no business to run and wouldn't have a job. Obama not only has a job but gets to do it regardless of whether he's well-liked, qualified for it, or good at it.
Following that train of thought Bush shouldn't have been President in 2000.
And I forgot, liberals also must be young and totally ignorant.
This post exhibits such a complete lack of understanding of economic cause and effect that I really don't know where to begin. So I won't.
come on boss reach deep down and grasp that pin and pull it. let your fingers fly over your keyboard like a teenage girl texting during homeroom.
let it all out. you'll feel better and we might enjoy it. forget the the fact you are the boss and be one of the guys in the back of the room LET IT FLY.

The people of the United States of America have spoken, and we now have the next president of this Great Country. It was a long hard road to this point in time, and both Senators ran good campaigns; which as we all know has lead to Barrack H. Obama to become President-Elect. I write this post hopefully to change some of your minds on the next president, but I’m sure there are many among us who will refuse to see reason, and cling to ignorance, for ignorance is bliss.
I would like to first address “truckie69” on his views of Islam; however let me state I am a devout Catholic. The people responsible for September 11, 2001, were a group of radical Muslims. The Qur’an itself teaches peace, just as the bible does. The Qur’an also states that all Christians and Jews are brothers, who worship the same God; by the by calling God Allah is the same as calling Him Got in German, or Yahweh in Hebrew. The Qur’an states in V. 2:62 - "Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." Every religion on this earth has or had a radical wing to it, and the Muslim terrorists are no different. With that stated even if Obama was a Muslim, which he isn’t, there is no reason to have voted no for him because of that. I will go further and say I know a few Muslims who are serving in the Army and Navy right now, and they are just as willing as any Christian or Jew to lay down their lives to protect your liberties. And I will also say that religion should have no effect on who you vote for president, lets not forget that many people refused to vote for John. F. Kennedy because he was Catholic; however in my opinion he was a great president.
With that out of the way I would like to address some other statements by people here and other places. One of these being that Obama is too young or inexperienced to be president. First I would like to say that if the Founding Fathers of this country thought one needed experience as a Senator, Governor, Vice-President, ect… then they would have put that in the Great Document known as the Constitution; but they didn’t, they only put two requirements, that the person be a born citizen, and that they be greater then thirty-five years of age. Both of which Obama meet, and as for the whole business of his birth certificate not being real or lost, all one needs is common sense to see through that; he wouldn’t have gotten any where near where is now if that were true. Furthermore Abraham Lincoln, the greatest president we ever had, had no experience whatsoever when he was elected to the great office; in fact he lost the senate race two years prior to his presidential election. And yet this man who was a self taught lawyer preserved the Union, and freed the slaves. He had no military experience but was the only president to have both his terms he was alive for, consumed entirely by war; and kept this great nation from imploding. Another of this statements being that President-Elect Obama wishes to tax people that make more then $250,000 a year heavier then those that don’t, and that by doing this he is a communist; people are also saying he is a communist because he wants to make a national health care system. I’ll address the first part of this: taxing the wealthy heavier makes a lot more sense then taxing everyone the same, if one can make more in this country he should contribute more to this country. Teddy Roosevelt another one of our greatest presidents, was the first president to come up with the progressive tax theory; and I dare anyone here to say that Teddy Roosevelt was a communist. And we should have all see so far by this economic crises the trickle down theory does not work; the rich will simply find more ways to keep their money and the middle class will get poorer. On the topic of health care, why not have a national health care? Are the naysayers aware that we are the only modern country with no national health care plan? All the people that want a national health care don’t want to get rid of private health care, if you want to keep your private health care keep it, its not going any where; and on top of your private health care you get a national one. And if you can’t afford a private health care plan, then as an American citizen you still get health care. And as for saying only the lazy will get or use the health care, I know people who are over 70 have worked their whole lives, and have to continue to work because they can’t afford all the medicines, and doctors. I will bring up Teddy Roosevelt again who said in 1910: “The object of government is the welfare of the people. The material progress and prosperity of a nation are desirable chiefly so far as they lead to the moral and material welfare of all good citizens.” The purpose of our government is to keep safe our life, liberties, and pursuit of happiness, as is stated in the Declaration of Independence. And in this age were proper medical care can mean the difference between life and death then our government has an obligation to insure that its citizens receive the proper medical care. And if our government is not responsible for the protection of our lives then as President Lincoln said: “If the Declaration of Independence is not the truth, let us get the statute book in which we find it and tear it out. Who is so bold to do it? If it is not true then let us tear it out! Otherwise let us stick to it then.”
The Final thing I wish to say is that if by all this I have not convinced anybody then listen to Senator McCain: “I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.
“Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that… I wish Godspeed to the man who was my former opponent and will be my president. And I call on all Americans, as I have often in this campaign, to not despair of our present difficulties, but to believe, always, in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here.”
As I stated when I started this post I hope I convinced some of you to not support President-Elect Obama; I would never ask anyone to support someone blindly, but give him a fair chance. Thank you for reading the post.
Ive got a question, what gave the prez elect the qualifications to even run in the 1st place ? because he is a Senator ? or because someone finally figured out a way to get people out to vote ? What has the prez elect done since he's been in office ? We were f*c*e* no matter who got in. By the way, how many people voted that had been convicted of crimes and shouldnt have voted ?
A very well written and intelligent argument, unfortunately you base your argument on some questionable premises. While I am not familiar with the Quoran (or even the Bible since I am an atheist) you must recognize that many many Muslims do not agree with your peaceful interpretation. The need for Jihad and fundamentalism is taught throughout the Mid-East in schools called Medrassas. To many of them Jews and Christians are infidels who must be exterminated. As someone I know is fond of saying "Everything I Need to Know about Islam I Learned on 9-11."
I also think your references to great Presidents like Lincoln and Roosevelt is inapposite. At this juncture, Obama could certainly turn out to be a great President, but, you must acknowledge the signs are not encouraging. Lincoln did not begin his political career (to my knowledge) in the home of a Confederate or secessionist. In my view, Ayers is the functional equivalent--or worse. Similarly, I do not believe that either Lincoln's or Roosevelt's spiritual advisers were fond of the expressions "GOD DAMN AMERICA," or US of KKKA" etc.
I also must respectfully disagree with your views on both economics and health care. Without even venturing into the issue of providing full health care for illegal aliens, the fact is that the more government involvement in the health care system--the worse for everyone. Can you seriously argue that either the British or Canadian model is superior to ours. Which countries, other than the United States, are responsible for the huge breakthroughs in cancer drugs, heart disease treatments etc. Canadians in need of immediate life saving by-pass surgery are routinely sent to the U.S.
I believe President Regan established that the more you cut taxes--even on the rich--the more money comes into the government because you increase investment. Raising taxes, in the current economic climate, will surely lead to more job losses and further retraction in the economy. A tax cut is needed to stimulate job growth, and consequently bring more revenue into the government. They called Reganomics "voodoo economics," but by the time he left office, our economy was far healthier than the one he inherited from Carter.
Finally, I fully intend to support President-elect Obama provided he governs from the Center. Unfortunately, he is left leaning by nature, he owes the far left big time for his election and they will want payback. While I truly like and respect Sen. McCain, and voted for him, he was not my first choice as the Republican candidate, so I do not feel bound by his concession speech.
Thank you Bush for screwing over John McCain again he should of been president instead of you now that being said good luck to our new president(like it or not he won) you are going to need it
