Default Presidential Election Home Stretch              Go to Top

OK let's hear about it.

The endorsement by Colin Powell of Barack Obama probably did not come cheap. What was he promised by the proposed Obama administration in exchange for his ramblings?

Secretary of State again? Chief of Staff? Or something bigger?

C'mon ADZE, HOES, VSINDY, and, yes, even you Whiskey. What are your thoughts for the final two weeks before we elect a new leader of the "free" world? [Or wind up watching another Supreme Court battle to determine the winner?]

Keep it clean and no attacks.

I will re-state what I said before: the polls are not an exact science. I believe that the race is closer than being reported.

I think that Obama's info-mercial will be viewed by a lot of people who Obama needs to vote for him: Philadelphia[Pennsylvania] and Tampa Bay[Florida]. Let's call the World Series Obama's "Joe the Plumber". This is going to be huge for him and could sway A LOT of undecideds. If you don't think so, then imagine what the audience would have been if the teams were the Dodgers [California] and the White Sox [duh-Illinois]. So his campaign rolled the dice with this move and hit a HOME RUN with it.

McCain needs to keep hammering the Socialistic agenda of the Obama team and encourage the undecideds and the Conservatives to VOTE. He needs to keep hammering the potential Supreme Court appointments that could overturn Roe-v-Wade and highlight the possibility of TOTAL CONTROL of the Federal Government by a Left/Liberal Party looking to re-distribute the wealth.

Roll up your sleeves folks because it is going to get dirty now.

63 million in Foreign donations.

A canvass of disclosed Obama campaign donors shows worrisome anomalies, including outright violations of federal election laws.

For example, Obama has numerous donors who have contributed well over the $4,600 federal election limit.

Many of these donors have never been contacted by the Obama campaign to refund the excess amounts to them.

And more than 37,000 Obama donations appear to be conversions of foreign currency.

An analysis of the Obama campaign data before the latest figures were released, potential foreign currency donations could range anywhere from $12.8 million to a stunning $63 million in all. With the addition of $150 million raised in September, this amount could be much more.

I think it's quite possible Obama will win the popular vote, but McCain may still win the electoral vote. It's very close in all the swing states, while Obama's lead is about 20% in the large democratic states like CA and NY.

A 269 - 269 ev tie would be really interesting, but it's probably statistically unlikely. In that case, election goes to the House, where the Democrats should have an advantage. But in the House, each state gets only 1 vote, so it would not necessarily be a "majority wins" in that case, either.

Obama needs to keep plugging away in the swing states, not make any mistakes, and make sure that everyone understands his tax plan (most people make < 250k).

McCain should emphasize the one party rule as you suggested. Supreme Court may work too with Catholic votes (especially in PA), but it may be at cross-purposes with the hope of some in the party to draw disaffected Clinton supporters. Abortion itself is probably a third rail, as an overturn of Roe v Wade is unlikely and if it does occur it simply allows the states to regulate abortion. Most pro-life folks don't seem to understand that, but if the issue becomes front and center, the opposition will make sure they do.

As you said, it will be interesting

Two ways MCCain wins:
1-The young and stupid don't come out to vote in the numbers the polls reflected.
2-Over Confident Democrats blow off voting because they KNOW Obama will win anyway (if that happens, and I believe it might, they can thank the liberal media who has basically assured them of an Obama Win).

or this one, from MSNBC:
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly ill 85-year-old grandmother, his spokesman said.

Robert Gibbs told reporters Monday that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious."

Obama was expected to resume campaigning on Saturday, though Gibbs was unsure where.

Wow. I have your permission to speak. I'm so honored and humbled...

Well, the endorsement of Obama by Colin Powell speaks volumes. You want proof that race is an issue in this election? There it is.
I just lost whatever respect I had for the man.

The fact that presidential candidates feel the need to do infomercials, be coerced into appearing on late night TV (Letterman) and humiliate themselves on comedy shows (SNL) demonstrates how low we have sunk as a nation. These are the moments when I am almost embarrassed to be an American.

Sadly McCain really has no hope of taking this election. He has repeatedly squandered opportunities to hammer Obama not only on the issues but on his lack of judgment/character and his dirty campaigning/commercials.

I don't think we need to roll up our sleeves and prepare ourselves for anything in the final hours except to start getting used to the idea that we will have to watch this country be taken further down the shitter by another misguided, socialistic, hate-monger. Make no mistake -- Obama hates this country and all the freedoms it has ever stood for.

By the way, when Obama gets elected to the Presidency will his wife be announcing his victory to the office like she did when he became a Senator? It's not a direct quote but it went something like this: "And now, your next Senator from Illinois and my baby's daddy..." A real class act.

From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.' - Barak Obama.

I guess I am not that smart...

To borrow from Nozzlenose's quote: "I learned all I need to know about Islam on September 11"

Ahh Whisky I could not disagree more with that point. I gained so much respect for her after seeing her on the show. There aren't a lot of people, let alone politicians, who could go up there and make fun of themselves, she impressed me. I'm still smart enough to vote on the issues, not who's the funniest comedy actor, but still....

By the way, this thing McCain is doing with Ayers is a mistake for him. Ayers was a hippie child of his time, now washed up, too long in the past to matter today. To the undecideds, constantly going after Obama for the Ayers connection makes it look as if he has no other ammo.

No matter which Candidate you vote for, no matter who wins, in a note-
WE'RE SCREWED!

Even though I am registered as a certain party, I try to take an objective stance when it comes to voting. My stance- whose gonna help me, my family or my community...

...Typically, the only people that do are "local" politicians....

...As narrowed minded as that sounds, its pretty much the truth. I have voted in every election I had the opportunity to since I turned 18. Its my PRIVELEDGE, and a lotta good people have given their lives for it....

Both sides make excellent points. LOL- I typically dont "political debate" with anyone besides by Dad & Brother- as it usually ends up with hurt feelings.

So, dont call me an "independent", a "liberal" or "conservative", etc... I fit into a lot of categories in life!

The main category that I fit into when I vote- "WHO WILL SUIT MY NEEDS"

...Between the war, oil, a failing economy, housing values dropping, and politicians "buying" their way out of "term limits"- I figure me as a "upper middle class working family"- I'm gonna have to ride this shit all out....

..I'm 30 years old.... when my father & grandpa were 30 years out with a "blooming" family the world was a LOT different.

Bring on the lock....How is it that after 43 presidents, America finally has a strong black candidate, and he gets the endorsement of a very well respected black republican veteran, and it's about race. So does that mean every time someone gets an endorsement from some one it's all about race? It's really weird race never came up with Bush and Kerry, race never came up with Bush and Gore, and so on and so on, but now a man who served on Clinton and Bushs' cabinet is only voting for Obama cause he's black. WOW.....

With all due respect backdrafff, when did Colin Powell ever support a strong candidate with such a glaring liberal agenda? Ever? As far as endorsements go, Mc
