Supporters of Nassau County Firefighters 2008 Operation Wounded Warrior Project,
we have just received a dispatch from the Office of US Congressman Peter King notifying us that wounded warriors from the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines will be biking along Merrick Road towards the Jones Beach Water Tower on FRI July 25 starting at 10:00am.
Please remember back to the last 3 yrs when we visited military hospitals on Dec 07 in Wash DC and NC and learned 1st hand of the severity of their wounds, missing limbs, injuries to eyes, ears, brain traumas. We now have an opportunity to share a happier moment with them.
We also learned from those visits that many of America's wounded warriors were only 12, 13 , 14, 15 yrs old on 09-11 but later on became willing to volunteer to enlist in the US Armed Forces to be trained to dare greatly, to give their all, to defend our freedoms and prevent another 09-11 type of attack.
Let us then resolve despite the late notice, despite that Friday is a work day and July is a vacation month to overcome these obstacles as our wounded warriors had to and dedicate a couple of hrs to CHEER THESE AUTHENTIC AMERICAN HEROES towards a full and complete recovery.
NC Police Dept. advises that we can start forming a LONG RED LINE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT APPARATUS at RT 135 & Merrick Road on the South side of Merrick RD at 09:30am
NCPD also advises that we can proceed to park
FD vehicles in a westerly pattern on the south side of Merrick Rd from RT 135 to SALUTE THESE AWESOME WARRIORS who should be passing that location at approximately at 10:30am.
Please insure that Trucks possess large American Flags and dress code is Class-B when possible.
Please advise ASAP of your commitment to participate in this noble event so
NCPD can plan accordingly.
If you're planning to attend the FIREHOUSE EXPO IN BALTIMORE this weekend, please delegate to the Chief on duty the consideration of dispatching an engine or ladder truck to RT 135 & Merrick RD at 0930am for this noble event..
Attached are the flyers from US Rep Peter King's Office that informed us of this noble event which will include 50 Wounded Warriors and between 200-300 bikers cycling approximately 26 miles from Suffolk County to Jones Beach.
