If you read the Nassau County EMS Protocols, head injuires can very much so be transported by helicopter, I beleive at that altitude the pressure isnt an issue.
why is this brought up every time a helicopter is called for a head injury...people already said the helicopter doesnt fly high enough to affect a head injury...
I'd be more concerned with the possibility of the patient getting combative as sometimes happens with a head injury, while in flight. Then again, we can pick any of these calls and beat it to death, but without being the one who is working the patient...just have to trust that the best care is being given, which I'm sure it was.
The concern is more with the patient being combative. If you've ever seen the way the aided is loaded into the helicopter, he is literally lying down in the co-pilots seat. The AMT is in the back and the pilot is by himself in the front.
