We're discussing Who is having there 100th Anniversary?
The Long Beach Fire Department is only 24 months away from our 100th Anniversary. Thanks to the Oceanside Fire Department we will be hosting the 2nd Battalion parade and drill that year also! Anyone with information on departments that are going to be hosting a 100th anniversary celebration between now and then or anyone that has just recently had one please post that information as well as if you attended one what you liked or didn't like about it. You can leave out department names when talking about dislikes! We would be interested in talking to committee members of the departments that are currently planning or have just recently had one, as well as going to one that will be taking place soon. Thanks, and mark your calendars for 8/13 - 8/15 2010.
ANY information containing names and numbers of contacts should be sent to me via PM not posted!!!!!!!!!!!

I would contact the Baldwin Fire Department. Their 100th in 1996 was probably the best I've ever seen. I understand that they started years in advance and put in a lot of hard work, but they ended up with a good parade and drill and well as a very nice yearbook.

PM me if you would like information about ours.
I think you should also get in touch with Chief Walters and the PWFD as they recently had theirs and did a REALLY nice job with the history and retelling it.

All of the departments having anniversaries that year should probably try to get together just to get an overall idea of who is doing what when. Parade and Drill dates are most likely already taken for the County, etc. If you would like to do an invitational parade or drill now would be the time to get in touch with the Nassau County Drill Team Capts Assc. executive board to find out what you have to do to get a date in the schedule. I know Port had a parade outside of the "usual" parade season which I am sure would be feasible, just not one of the "sanctioned parades" (ie no Tellm on official business). It would really be nice having a bunch of departments spread things out over the year so a lot of the County could come out to honor each of them. I just noticed that if you scroll down the page other anniversary threads automatically come up as part of a search.

NHP is hosting the Nassau County Parade & Drill, and the Nassau County Memorial service in 2010. Our committe started planning and fund raising in 2006.
