We've had a few complaints lately about threads being locked and/or deleted. Some have said
"a rant means being able to say anything about anything..." Well, that's not what it means here, simply because we won't allow this board to become a public embarassment for the Nassau fire service. I actually had a guy whine that we deleted his thread, a thread in which he was talking about guys he knows in the fire service who "play the skin flute." (Note to that guy: I'm pretty sure a google search will lead you to plenty of other message boards on which you can continue that conversation with a whole crowd of interested posters.)
We renamed this board the "Rant" back in November '05, more or less as an angry response to Newsday's attack on our fire service. While other "rant" boards (
FDNY, NYPD for example) exist to let users take anonymous pot-shots and complain about their jobs, this "rant" was created to foster comradeship and brotherhood in an "it's us against the world" vein.
Is the "Rant" the best name for this board? Maybe not, but that's the name and it ain't changing. I'm asking you yet again to adhere to the simple
Rant Rules, it really shouldn't be that difficult.
Thanks. Stay low and go.
